During my stroll one evening along the Middle Corniche, I stopped to take some pictures of
Al Anani Mosque.
Al Anani Mosque is one of three mosques along Jeddah's Corniche. It was designed by architect Raouf Helmi and is one of the largest mosques in the Al Hamra district of Jeddah.
Consisting mostly of classic Islamic features, it has been adapted to serve modern purposes. The mihrab (the point nearest to Mecca towards which everyone faces to pray), the entrance porch, and octagonal minarets are all fantastic to witness. The
crescent moons atop the dome and minarets, symbolic of the beginning of the lunar month according to the Muslim calendar, are a nice finishing touch.
The
Al Anani Mosque also boasts a spectacular dome, as you'll see in the pictures below.
I'll be posting more pictures from the Middle Corniche, including those of the fountain and statues, in the near future. So stay tuned!

Lots of Qurans for people to use. |

Craziest chandelier ever? |
|
Balcony above the entrance. |

I don't know what that is or what it's used for, but I'm gonna find out! |

Don't forget to take off your shoes before entering... |
|
... and put them here. |
